Exclamation Officer Trouble

Hi. I am a leader of a guild and I recently had an officer who kicked every member. I think that officers should be stripped of their ability to kick members. Every other leader who has had this happen to them would agree strongly. It isn't fair to all the members who are having fun in the guild and to the leader who has worked hard to get the guild to where it is and then guy with no life just decides to ruin it all. (Arena Net Please Consider)

I AGREE!
Its a pain.
They should be able to invite and a select few could kick that the leaders pick.
Wheres the morality in all this?

Maybe it should be that the Guild Leader can choose if an Officer can kick or not. At least then there's an easier way of filtering people who can't handle being an officer.

Or instead have any of the kicks have to go through the guild leader. So an officer can chose to "kick" a member from the guild and a message will be sent to the leader asking for the okay to kick the member. That way if a member needs to be kicked the guild leader can be notified or even if they are confused to as why they need to be kicked they can be supplied with the reason why. Imho I think that would work better.

I suppose it would be nice to have a modifiable rank system like WoW, but really... Only promote people you TRUST.

QFT. If the guy is starting to become a problem, kick or demote him before he can do something like this. I'm sorry but a leader can't be on 24/7 and needs other people who can invite and kick for him when he isn't there or is busy. /notsigned

What I want to know though is if the OP really is a guild leader or someone who got kicked from his guild by an officer and is bitter towards them. If your guild is small enough, just kick the officer who did that and reinvite everyone.

Ok so heres the story

we had a guildy who was sexual harrassing our female (yes real girls play) members. He was causing problems and being an ass. Our Leader was away for about 4 days do to house problems. Do we the officers just put up with it and say sorry folks all we do is invite or do we kick the bastard and explain why hes missing to the leader later?

I kicked.

Its why you promote trustworthy officers whom you hold in high esteem. The guild leader may not be on every day, so there's a need for officers to have the ability.

/signed - there also needs to be more guild ranks to handle a large majority of things.

WoW has an excellent system for their guilds, numerous useful ranks. Shame Guild Wars doesn't have anything like that.

By the way, you can report the officer who threw a tantrum and often times they can/will get banned.

I have 1 thing to say to this thread.

NEW GUILD FORMING xxxxxx [xxx], CAPE, HALL, STORAGE, xxx ALLEIGNED, PM ME, FIRST 5 ARE OFFICERS

Obviously with slightly worse spelling than that. If you give people positions of power for no reason, you deserve all you get.

i agree with pwned, officers should have that have some authority to do that, so then the guild leader can review it, or you can ahve a 2nd in command designated by guild leader that can do that too

Make every member an officer, that way no one can kick out members but the guild leader and if worse comes to worse only the guild message could be sabotaged.

Thats true...maybe instead of it coming to that maybe the officer can have an option to "silence". That person would not be able to talk to any members and the leader would be notified of the silence when he returned. then he could kick or revoke the silence. and yes i am a guild leader.

The system should work like this...

The Office has the choice to nominate a member be kicked, and the next time the leader logs on, he gets a message saying...

"[enter name] has nominated that [enter name] be kicked from the guild. Confirm or deny?"

...the Officer can fill in a text box with an explanation, and then the guild leader can choose whether its justified or not. That still leaves officers with the ability to nominate evictions, but the final choice comes down to the leader, as it should do.

The nominated party would be sent a message explaining the situation, and why. They would then be put onto a nominated list and not be able to talk to anyone in the guild or alliance via the guild chat.

If they are denied, then they return to the normal list and resume as normal, otherwise their kicked.

That should remove abuse of guilds.
